Bob Batesole

Bob Batesole enters his ninth year as a collegiate baseball coach and his second year as an assistant coach for the USC baseball program. At USC, he works with the outfielders, coaches first base and prepares the initial scouting reports.

Prior to coming to USC, Batesole spent one year at Chapman College where he helped Head Coach Scott Laverty and the Panthers to a 26-16 (.619) record. Batesole assisted with the infielders which produced three All-Conference players. He also prepared advanced scouting reports and helped to position the defense.

Batesole spent the two years prior to that at Westmont College where he assisted Head Coach Robert Ruiz improve the team defense from a fielding average of .954 in 2013 to .973 in 2015. The 2015 team fielding averaged ranked 2nd in the NAIA and included two gold glove winners. The Warriors were a combined 80-36 (.690) in 2014 and 2015.

Prior to Westmont College, Batesole coached four years at Orange Coast College under legendary Head Coach John Altobelli. The Pirates were a combined 110-50-1 (.686) during his tenure and made the playoffs all four years including a trip to the State Championship in 2012. Batesole worked with the Pirate infielders and hitters. He was also responsible for the infield positioning.

As a player, Batesole was a four-year varsity lettermen and starter and two-year team captain at the University of Southern California, Batesole set the Trojan’s all-time hits and total bases records. He was an assistant to Hall of Fame Coach Rod Dedeaux in his fifth year at USC.

Batesole played for coaching great Mark Marquess on Team USA and helped the Americans win two gold medals, highlighted by a walk-off, game-winning hit to defeat the Cuban National Team in the gold medal game.

Bob and wife Cathy have three boys and reside in Mission Viejo.
