Game: Melton is a combo guard who handles point guard responsibilities when Jordan McLaughlin sits or plays off the ball. He is the ultimate "glue guy" who fills up the box score without being a dominant scorer at this stage of his career. He uses his long arms to create havoc on the defensive end, ranking third in the Pac-12 in steals. Offensively, he has a knack for hitting the clutch shot, which is one of the reasons the Trojans are 5-1 in games decided by five points or less.
Prep Career: Melton led Crespi to back-to-back state titles and departed as the school's all-time leading scorer. He was named the CIF Southern Section Division III Player of the Year. The North Hollywood native averaged 20.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.5 steals and 1.2 blocks per game as a senior.
USC head coach Andy Enfield on Melton: "I can't remember a time that our staff ever saw De'Anthony play a high school or AAU game where he didn't play well and fill up the stat sheet. We did not recruit him as a scorer, we recruited him as an all-around basketball player."
Fun Fact: He has five siblings, including four-year-old twin brothers, Damauri and Demani.
