Thoughts from Thursday's practice, through the eyes of USCRipsIt...
- On a chilly night, the Trojans closed out the work week with a traditionally light half-pads practice, sending them into the final stage of game preparation with what Coach Carroll hailed as the fourth consecutive solid workout of the week.
- The injury list stretches on as the Trojans inch closer to kickoff. Wideout Brandon Carswell is the latest addition after spraining his toe at the end of Wednesday's workout, and his status for the weekend is uncertain. Tight end Anthony McCoy (ankle) and linebacker Malcolm Smith (shoulder) will not make the trip, while defensive end Nick Perry (knee), defensive lineman Armond Armstead (wrist) and defensive end Everson Griffen (toe) are all expected to play. Linebacker Chris Galippo, who injured his neck last Saturday, completed the entire week of practice and is "full speed" for Saturday, Carroll said.
- Defensive end Wes Horton snagged a sweet one-handed interception during service team period before barreling downfield for a touchdown. "SportsCenter!" Carroll exclaimed.
- Aaron Corp closed out an effective week as service quarterback on Thursday, leading the scout-team offense against the first-unit defense in sharp and productive fashion.
- Continuing with his performance all week, tailback Curtis McNeal had another stellar effort on Thursday, turning in several juke-filled runs in team period.
- Following Thursday's workout, Carroll praised the scout-team offense and defense for their work during the week to give the first units the best looks possible. "You made this a great week for us," Carroll said, referring to the service-teamers.
- After attending the afternoon team meeting, Mark Sanchez watched Thursday's practice from the sideline with his former teammates.
