The final week of the fall semester is already next week, and Coach Carroll is making a push for his players to finish strong in the classroom as if the lectures, tests and papers were football work. For all intents and purposes, you could swap his academic encouragements for a halftime pep talk -- word for word.
"We've got to compete in everything we're doing -- everything's a competition for us," Carroll told his players during Monday afternoon's team meeting, referring to their schoolwork. "We've got to take care of business and finish in the right fashion."
