Thoughts from Wednesday's practice, through the eyes of USCRipsIt...
- Coming off consecutive losses on the previous two Turnover Wednesdays, the Trojan defense made sure the tables would turn this afternoon -- and did they ever. The defense ripped off four turnovers during the half-pads workout, including three interceptions and a forced fumble. Cornerback Torin Harris had his hand in two of the takeaways, as he caused a fumble and then picked off a pass later on. Cornerbacks Kevin Thomas (on an impressive catch while sliding to the ground) and T.J. Bryant (on a misthrown ball over the middle) posted the other two interceptions. "It's a turnover party!" linebacker Chris Galippo exclaimed during practice.
- On the whole, it was a rough day for the offense, as it had to contend with a sack-happy defensive line and excellent pass coverage throughout the practice. The defense also ended up with a 13-10 overall practice victory in the final team period.
- The saving grace for the offense was a powerful run game from start to finish. The running backs led a bruising 9-on-7 rushing-focused period, with several hard-hitting runs turned in by the stable of tailbacks. Then, later on during team period, tailback Allen Bradford took a pitchout and churned upfield for a massive gain.
- On the final play of the day, Mitch Mustain and Damian Williams, former high school teammates, connected for a short touchdown completion.
- Defensive end Nick Perry (knee bruise) sat out of Wednesday's practice and will rest the remainder of the week, Coach Carroll said.
- Several notable people attended practice, including L.A. Kings superstar Jack Johnson, mixed martial art legend Royce Gracie and volleyball icon Jim Menges.
