For USC wideout Jordan Cameron and San Jose State quarterback Jordan La Secla, Saturday's season opener will be a reunion of sorts.
Cameron and La Secla were teammates at Newbury Park High, combining to form a potent QB-receiver threat that led the Panthers to a CIF playoff appearance. In 2005, Cameron caught 73 passes for 1,022 yards with 12 touchdowns, while La Secla threw for 4,070 yards and 35 touchdowns overall that season. Cameron was named to several All-Area teams, while La Secla was named the Marmonte League MVP and CIF Division IV Offensive Player of the Year.
The duo also played on the Newbury Park High basketball team together before going off to college. Cameron, a redshirt junior, is part of the wide receiver rotation, while La Secla, also a redshirt junior, might be the starting quarterback on Saturday.
