Thoughts from Tuesday's practice, through the eyes of USCRipsIt...
- Aaron Corp returned to full-speed practice for the first time since his leg injury on Aug. 10, throwing accurately and managing the offense effectively as he essentially split the workout's snaps with Matt Barkley in every period. Corp looked sharp for his first full day back, leading the offense to seven wins in his nine snaps in the practice-ending team period. "I thought he had a very positive day today," Coach Carroll said. "For him just to be out there involved and in a normal setting is a big step for him."
- Behind a strong running game and an efficient passing attack, the offense claimed the 14-10 blowout victory on the inaugural Competition Tuesday of the 2009 season.
- Defensive end Everson Griffen recorded the play of the day when he incredibly soared up like a basketball player going for a rebound and intercepted a Matt Barkley screen pass to a tailback, awing his teammates as he rumbled downfield for the touchdown.
- Earlier during team period, safety Drew McAllister picked off Barkley's first of two interceptions on the day when he snagged an errant pass deep over the middle.
- Even with the two picks, Barkley did have his typical flashes of greatness Tuesday, including one beautiful throw on a jump ball to wideout David Ausberry down the left sideline during team period.
- Watching the workout from the sidelines were comedian Will Ferrell, former NBA player Jamaal Wilkes and legendary Trojan quarterback and current USC Board of Trustees member Pat Haden.
- Scouts from five NFL teams attended the practice.
