The Trojans are spending this week preparing for the Saturday's mock game.
The emphasis is definitely on the "game" part of that sentence.
Everything about this week, from practices to meetings to workouts, is timed out to fully prepare the Trojans for a typical game week, giving them a real-life dry run of the schedule they'll go through 12 times during the next three months. It all leads up to Saturday's mock game experience, which will be an exact mirror of a normal game day, including the Friday night in the hotel, the pre-game meetings, the bus ride to the Coliseum and the pre-game warm-up routine.
As Coach Carroll told the players, "This week is all about practicing game week."
"The rhythm of the week is what's important," Carroll said in Tuesday's team meeting. "We've got to become accustomed to the timing of this. Everything we do is orchestrated for your performance on game day, so by the time you get to the stadium on game day, you can be as great as you can be."
