The Lott IMPACT Trophy, named for USC Football legend Ronnie Lott, is awarded annually to the defensive player who best exemplifies Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity (IMPACT).
USC, Penn State, Ohio State and Virginia are the only schools with multiple players on the watch list. The Pac-12 leads all conferences with 10 players on the list.

Gustin earned the nod after leading the Trojans with 13.0 tackles for loss and finishing second in sacks, with 5.5 during the 2016 season. He also ranked second on the team (behind only Smith) with 68 tackles.
Smith, who's on the Watch List for the second straight year, earned Sophomore All-American honors in 2016 after racking up 83 tackles.
Recently-drafted USC CB Adoree' Jackson was a finalist for the award last season, but Michigan's Jabrill Peppers took home the hardware.
Gustin, Smith and the Trojans kick off their 2017 season on September 2 vs. Western Michigan.
