The Women of Troy were crowned the champions of the USC Classic last week thanks to sweeps over Utah State, Pepperdine, Idaho State and New Mexico. The victory over New Mexico marked the Trojans' 29th consecutive winning set and ninth straight 3-0 sweep. The team remains undefeated, advancing to 10-0 this season and rising to No. 3 in the national rankings.
For the third consecutive week, senior OH Samantha Bricio was named the Pac-12 Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, becoming the second player in league history to receive the award three times in a row in the same season. Racking up 21 kills against New Mexico, Bricio moved ahead of three-time All-American and Olympic silver medalist April Ross into sixth place in program history for career kills with 1,586.
This weekend, the Women of Troy will compete against Oklahoma and Maryland at the Oklahoma Invitational, their last tournament before starting Pac-12 play against UCLA on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
