- USC started its season with three games in five days and a rotation of basically six players. They never seemed to have the legs tonight to keep up with a sweet shooting Rider team. "We looked like we were in chill out mode and we can't be in chill out mode against anybody," said head coach Kevin O'Neill.
- The Trojans also showed that youth is a double-edged sword. USC starts a true freshman tandem in the backcourt in Maurice and Bryce Jones. After dynamic performances in Monday's win, they were guilty of poor shot selection and decision making tonight, especially as the deficit continued to mount. "Our youth showed through," O'Neill said about how the team handled adversity. "Obviously we have a lot to learn and a lot to do to grow up and be a good team."
- Kevin O'Neill demands defensive intensity, so he was terribly disappointed in the Trojans inability to challenge shots or get on the floor for loose balls. "In my two years, that's the worst we have been defensively," O'Neill said. "We talked about taking the three out of the game and if you look at it, they shot 12 for 19."
