Bio
THIS SEASON: Thomas Reed is a 2020 senior co-captain who is a sprint free specialist that is a reliable scoring contributor for the Trojans in dual meets and potentially the Pac-12 level.
2019: Reed again competed in three events at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships, which included a 27th in the 100y free (44.66, PR), 33rd in the 200y free (1:40.21) and a 36th in the 50y free (20.70) … He swam in a pair of C finals at the Texas Invitational, touching 21st in the 100y free (45.02) and 23rd in the 200y free (1:38.64) … Reed repeated as a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention selection.
2018: Reed raced in three events at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships as a sophomore, finishing 24th in the 200y free (1:40.96), 30th in the 100y free (45.49) and 46th in the 50y free (20.74). … He competed in the 50y, 100 and 200y free at the Texas Invitational, topped by his 48th in the 200y free … He earned 2018 Pac-12 All-Academic honors.
2017: Reed provided strong freestyle depth as a 2017 freshman and competed in the 100y freestyle at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships, finishing 22nd (44.89). He also swam as an exhibition swimmer in the 50y free (21.07) and 200y free (1:37.43). All times were season bests.
HIGH SCHOOL: Reed attended Bellarmine College Prep in Mountain View, Calif., where the converted water polo player was a 2016 California state finalist in the 100y free (fifth, 45.82) and a semifinalist in the 50y free (21.04) ... Reed swam at the 2016 USA Swimming Futures Championships, placing third in the 200m free (1:53.41) and taking ninth in the 100m free (52.14) ... He became a full time swimmer as a 2015 junior and saw it pay off at the 2015 CIF Central Coast Championships with a third in the 50y free and a sixth in the 100y free and a pair of top 10 finishes in the 50y and 100y free at the 2015 California state championships ... Also in 2015, Reed dominated for his club team at the Speedo Champions Series-Far West, winning the 50m (24.32) and 100m free (52.60) with a second in the 200m free (1:57.16) to earn a spot at the 2015 Speedo Junior National-West Championships. There, he took sixth in the 100m free.
