Bio
THIS SEASON: Whitney Stephenson, a 2009 junior, looks to get back to the NCAA Championships for the first time since her freshman season. A key contributor in the backstroke and middle distance freestyle for the Trojans, she will look to build on her role as a solid dual-meet performer for the Trojans.
2008: Stephenson raced in three events at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships, taking 22nd in the 100y back (56.99), 28th in the 200y back (2:04.88) and 29th in the 200y free (1:51.37).
2007: Stephenson competed in two events at the 2007 NCAA Championships as a freshman, taking 45th in the 200y back (2:04.38) and 69th in the 200y free (1:51.15). She also raced on USC[apos]s 200y, 400y and 800y free relays ... At the 2007 Pac-10 Championships, she was 16th in the 100y back (56.63) and 19th in the 200y free (1:50.51) ... Her 1:49.56 in the 200y free and 2:01.15 in the 200y back against UCLA were both personal bests.
HIGH SCHOOL: Stephenson prepped at Nevada Union High in Grass Valley, Calif., where she was a high school All-American ... At the 2006 U.S. Spring Nationals, she reached the finals of the 100m back ... At the 2006 U.S. Spring Junior Nationals, she was a finalist in the 50y, 100y and 200y back and she also reached the finals of the 100m and 200m back at the 2006 U.S. Summer Junior Nationals ... She was a California Sac-Joaquin Section champion in the 100y back and 200y free in 2003 and 2004.
