THIS SEASON: A 2009 sophomore, Buddy Turner has taken big steps as a sprint freestyler as he works to become a major dual-meet and conference-level performer with sights set on making his first NCAAs.
2008: Turner raced for the Trojans in the free and fly as a 2008 freshman, seeing action in dual meets and invitationals ... He raced at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, finishing 61st in the 100m free (50.79).
HIGH SCHOOL: Turner prepped at Horizon High in Phoenix, Ariz., where he was a two-time Arizona Republic Boys Swimmer of the Year (2005-2006) and a six-time state champion ... As a senior he, won his third straight 50y free title and his first in the 500y free. His 50 time (20.36) in the state prelims was just off Gary Hall Jr.[apos]s prep state record (20.30) set in 1994. He also won the 50y free and 100y fly state titles in 2004 and 2005 ... Competed with the U.S. National Junior Team at the 2007 Junior Pan Pacific Championships ... Won three titles at the 2006 NCSA Junior Nationals and set a national junior record in the 100m free (51.51) at the 2006 Speedo Junior National Championships, qualifying him for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials.

PERSONAL: Born Aug. 11, 1988 ... Turner is an avid motorcross racer ... Majoring in Public Policy, Management and Planning.
