USC Pitching Coach Sean Allen Announced as Head Coach of Lamar Baseball
June 02, 2026 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES – USC baseball pitching coach Sean Allen was announced as the next head coach of the Lamar University baseball team on Tuesday (July 2). Allen will remain with the Trojans through the end of the postseason before departing for Lamar.
"We are happy and grateful for Sean and all he has given to this team," said USC Head Coach Andy Stankiewicz. "The impact he has made in the program, not just with the pitching staff but all of it, has been tremendous. We are excited for him as he will begin the next chapter of his fantastic coaching career."
Allen came to USC prior to the 2025 season and since then has helped the Trojans reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade and the NCAA Super Regional round for the first time in more than 20 years.
This season, the USC pitching staff was one of the best in the country, posting the most shutouts in the nation with 10, the best hits/9 mark (6.98), No. 4 WHIP (1.20), and No. 6 ERA (3.48) in the country during the regular season. Allen also helped guide Mason Edwards to Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and Golden Spikes Award semifinalist honors.
"There are not enough words to thank Coach Stankiewicz for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a storied program," said Allen. "Over the past two years, I have learned so much working under him, but the most important lesson has been how to treat people the right way. He is an outstanding coach, but an even better person.
"I also want to thank Coach Jewett, Coach Brown, Coach Goose, Coach Jenkins, and all of our support staff. It has been an honor to learn from and work alongside each of you. The relationships and experiences we have shared will stay with me for the rest of my career. And to all of the players from the past two seasons, I hope I have had a small impact on your lives and careers. I can promise you that you have had a tremendous impact on me.
"I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to lead Lamar Baseball, but I cannot wait to do everything I can to help USC get to Omaha this weekend. Fight On and Go Cards!"
A national search for Allen's replacement will begin immediately.
