COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Andrew Johnson was masterful on the mound and the Trojan bats continued to be red hot as the USC baseball team forced a winner-take-all regional finale matchup with a 14-3 victory over Texas A&M on Saturday night in College Station.

The Trojans will again face off against the Aggies on Monday in the if necessary game, with the winner advancing to the Super Regional round against North Carolina. Monday's matchup will be at 6 p.m. PT/8 p.m. CT on ESPN 2.

Facing elimination for a third straight game, the USC offense kept up its run of hot starts, putting up four runs on RBI knocks from Kevin Takeuchi and Andrew Lamb to take a 4-1 lead in the first. As the designated home team for the regional final matchup, the Trojans would add three more runs in the bottom of the third inning, getting a three-run shot from Lamb to make it 7-1. Aguie Lopez made it 9-1 with a two-run blast the very next inning.

The offensive onslaught never stopped. USC scored two runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth to push the lead to double digits.

In a season full of dominant pitching performances, Andrew Johnson had maybe the most impressive outing of the year, giving up just three runs in 7.1 innings against one of the most potent offenses in the country. Making the start a day after throwing 21 pitches in 1.2 innings of relief work on Friday, Johnson kept the Aggies quiet all night, tossing a career-high 124 pitches.

Johnson gave up a solo-homer in the first, but then put up three straight scoreless innings as the USC offense took over. The sophomore righty gave up single runs in the fifth and eighth before exiting. He stranded six Texas A&M runners, walking one and striking out four to earn the win.
