No. 2 USC Women’s Golf Leads the Way at the Chevron Silverado Showdown
April 06, 2026 | Women's Golf
Catherine Park is in the lead with a -5 and two more Trojans are in the top five.
NAPA, Calif. — Led by three players in the top five, the No. 2 USC Women's Golf Team leads the 16-team field after the first round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown, hosted by the University of Colorado at the Silverado Country Club and Resort in Napa, Calif. on Monday, April 6.
The Trojans trailed Eastern Michigan by one stroke at the turn, but the Trojans finished strong on the par-72, 6,146-yard course by finishing the first round with a 277 (-11). USC has been in first place in its last 11 rounds of golf — a streak dating back to the first round of the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic nearly two months ago on Feb. 14. Heading into tomorrow's second round, the Trojans have a seven-stroke lead over second-place Eastern Michigan.
Playing on a short turnaround from competing in the Augusta National Women's Amateur final 48 hours prior, Catherine Park and Elise Lee showed no signs of fatigue in their first rounds. Park leads the field after firing a bogey-free 67 (-5) where all five of her birdies came on the back side — including three consecutive birdies to finish the day.
Lee, meanwhile, is tied for second with teammate and fellow ANWA participant Bailey Shoemaker with 69s (-3). Like Park, Lee had a bogey-free first round. Shoemaker was in the lead by two strokes before running into trouble with a double-bogey and a bogey on Nos. 16 and 17.
Jasmine Koo, USC's fourth Augusta National participant, and freshman Sarah Hammett are tied for 14th after firing 72s (E). Hammett is competing as an individual.
Sophomore Kylie Chong rounds out the Trojans with a 74 (+2). She is in a 10-way tie for 33rd place.
Hammett is the first Trojan to tee off tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. PT. All pertinent information can be found on the women's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
