Trojans win inaugural Big Ten Doubles Team of the Year award.
ROSEMONT, Ill. - Following a historic season in the Big Ten, the USC women's tennis team earned a slate of honors as the conference announced its 2026 postseason awards.
Headlining USC's accolades, junior Lily Fairclough and freshman Krisha Mahendran were named the inaugural Big Ten Doubles Team of the Year after a dominant spring campaign at the top of the lineup. The duo, who began competing together this spring, compiled an 8-4 record in conference play while holding down court one for the Trojans. Fairclough and Mahendran climbed as high as No. 24 in the ITA national rankings and secured four ranked wins
over top-tier opponents, emerging as one of the conference's premier tandems. The pair was named co-winners of the award with Ohio State's Luciana Perry and Flora Johnson.Â
Sophomore Jana Hossam garnered All-Big Ten First Team honors following an impressive season at the top of USC's singles lineup. Hossam posted a 6-2 record in Big Ten play at the No. 1 position and reached a season-high ranking of No. 21 nationally this spring. She also earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors during the season. In the fall, Hossam achieved ITA All-American status after advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championship, where she reached as high as No. 16 in the national rankings.
Freshmen Eugenia Zozaya and Krisha Mahendran were both named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, highlighting USC's impactful rookie class. Zozaya also collected All-Big Ten Second Team honors after leading the Trojans with a 30-5 overall singles record, including an outstanding 10-1 mark in conference play. Competing across courts two, three, and four, Zozaya dropped just two matches during the spring dual season and delivered four match-clinching victories for USC.
Mahendran complemented her doubles success with strong singles play, going 4-1 in Big Ten competition while clinching three matches for the Trojans. She closed the spring on a three-match winning streak, further solidifying her role as a key contributor.
Rounding out USC's honors, freshman Dani Borruel was recognized with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Borruel went a perfect 5-0 in conference singles play and compiled a 16-5 overall singles record while also contributing in doubles. In the fall, she earned All-American honors alongside Fairclough and has continued to distinguish herself as a leader on and off the court, representing USC with excellence in competition, academics and sportsmanship.
USC's collection of postseason awards underscores a season defined by depth, talent and consistency as the Women of Troy continue to establish themselves among the Big Ten's elite. Â Later this week the Trojans will commence the postseason at the Big Ten Championship Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
