No. 4 USC Beach Volleyball Finishes In Second Place At Center of Effort Challenge

The Women of Troy defeated No. 7 LMU this morning then lost in the championship to No. 2 UCLA.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – No. 4 USC Beach Volleyball (26-7) ended the Center of Effort Challenge in second place, going 3-0 in their pool with a win over No. 7 Loyola Marymount before falling to No. 2 UCLA in the championship game on Saturday, April 11.

In the top flight, Kennedy Coakley and Zoey Henson from USC put a point on the board with a two-set victory over LMU's Kiana Stevenson and Anna Pelloia, earning scores of 21-13, 21-15. The 2s followed with Ashley Pater and Sarah Wood defeating Chloe Hooker and Ines Piret of LMU in straight sets, 21-18, 21-17.
On Court 4, Kyra Zaengle and Calinda Kok engaged in a three-set battle with LMU's Maja Kruczek and Josefine Schaekel. After dropping the first set 17-21, the Trojans rallied back, taking the second set 21-10. Zaengle and Kok followed that by clinching the match and the dual with a 15-7 win in the deciding third set.
After the decision, the 3s and 5s concluded their matches. Bella Satterwhite and Kerry Keefe on Court 3 went the distance but fell to LMU's Jaeya Brach and Magdalena Rabitsch, 21-16, 11-21, 13-15. On Court 5, Madison Goellner and Kaileigh Truslow secured an exciting three-set victory against LMU's Katie McAlister and Ellie Davis, 19-21, 21-19, 15-13.

The No. 4 spot featured a three-set battle in which Kyra Zaengle and Calinda Kok pushed their opponents to the brink. They claimed the second set 21-15 and topped that off by winning the deciding third set, 17-15, over UCLA's Ava Williamson and Adelina Okazaki to tie up the dual.
It all came down to the third flight. Bella Satterwhite and Kerry Keefe competed in another three-set match. Despite capturing the first set 21-19, they succumbed to UCLA's Alexa Fernandez and Harper Cooper, 18-21, 11-15, in a tightly contested match for UCLA to win the dual 3-2.
