No. 3 USC Beach Volleyball Splits On Day 1 Of Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational

The pairs of Calinda Kok/Kyra Zaengle and Alana Embry/Quincy Stephens won both of their matches today.
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – No. 3 USC Beach Volleyball (15-3) kicked off the first day of the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational on Saturday, March 14, taking on the University of Tampa and No. 7 Florida State in Pompano Beach, Florida. By the end of the first day, the Women of Troy went 1-1, taking down the Spartans of Tampa 5-0 before falling to the Seminoles 3-2.
MATCH #17: No. 3 USC def. Tampa, 5-0
RECORDS: USC (15-2), Tampa (7-5)
Ashley Pater and Kennedy Coakley kicked off the dual in the first flight, securing a commanding victory for the Trojans. They defeated Tampa's Nevaeh Wolfe and Hailey Wolfe in straight sets, 21-9, 21-8. This result put the first point on the board for USC.
From there, No. 5 Kyra Zaengle and Calinda Kok add another point with a two-set win over Anna Bayes and Lauren Duke from Tampa, posting scores of 21-10, 21-15.
Alana Embry and Quincy Stephens clinched the dual for the Women of Troy in the third spot by overcoming Ka Fredette-Huffman and Hailey Peterson with scores of 24-22, 21-10.
After the decision, the second flight of Zoey Henson and Sarah Wood continued their winning streak by defeating Tess Schrenger and Angel Williams in straight sets, 21-19, 21-15. Finally, No. 4 Bella Satterwhite and Kerry Keefe closed out the competition by overpowering Tampa's Logan Martin and Jordan Berglin, 21-10, 21-16.

The No. 2 pair featured Bella Satterwhite and Sarah Wood against Florida State's Gella Andrew and Maddie Trusty. This match went the distance, but even with Wood and Satterwhite's best efforts, they dropped the match in a decisive third set, 21-16, 19-21, 15-10, allowing the Seminoles to go up 2-0 early in the match.
Kerry Keefe and Kaileigh Truslow battled Myriah Massey and Bailey Higgins from Florida State in the fifth flight. The match was tightly contested, but Keefe and Truslow couldn't pull off the win, losing this match in three sets, 21-12, 20-22, 17-15.
