Kylie Chong won the GameAbove Invitational with a 205 (-11) earlier this week.
ROSEMONT, Ill. — Following her win at USC's GameAbove Invitational, No. 2 USC women's golf sophomore Kylie Chong was named the Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Thursday, March 12.
This is the second conference weekly award of Chong's career. Earlier this season, she earned Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week after tying Jasmine Koo at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic. So far, five different Trojans have won six weekly conference awards, which leads the Big Ten.
Winning the inaugural GameAbove Invitational on USC's home course at Rolling Hills Country Club, Chong's 2015 (-11) was the second-best three-round score of her collegiate career. In a tournament where she had 13 birdies to just two bogeys, the sophomore from Torrance, Calif. tied her best collegiate round with a 66 (-6) in the second round to take a three-stroke lead heading into the final round. On the final day of the tournament, Chong fired a 68 (-4) to take home the title.
Overall, she had 13 birdies and just two bogeys at the GameAbove Invitational. Her 205 was the second-best tournament score of her career.
From here, Chong and the Trojans will head to the Hawai'ian Islands for the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawai'i at the Klipper Golf Course from March 17-18. All pertinent schedule updates can be found on the women's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
