February 03, 2026 | Women's Golf
The Trojans moved up into a tie for sixth out of 16 teams.
PALOS VERDES ESTATES — Capping off its comeback, the No. 2 USC women's golf team moved up into a tie for sixth place during the final round of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
USC finished with a three-round score of 869 (+19) with a final round score of 283 (-1), which matched the team's score in the second round. Bailey Shoemaker was the Trojans' top finisher, placing in 12th with a three-round score of 215 (+2), while Elise Lee joined her in the top 20 by placing 19th with a three-round score of 217 (+4).
Despite a rocky start in round one, the Trojans moved up eight places in the final two rounds for the team's fourth finish in the top half this season. Four players — Kylie Chong, Catherine Park, Jasmine Koo and Chloe Kim — improved over the course of all three rounds.
No. 23 UCLA won the event with an 844 (-28), boosted by Jeonghyun Lee, who split medalist honors with Farah O'Keefe of Texas with 208s (-5).
Shoemaker kicked off her 2025-26 campaign with a top 15 finish, placing in a three-way tie for 12th with a 215 (+2). She fired a 73 (+3) in the final round, in which she momentarily moved into the top five before finishing the round with back-to-back bogeys. All told, she had two birdies and five bogeys. Nevertheless, the result was the 14th top-25 finish of her career.
Sophomore Elise Lee moved into the top 20 and finished in a tie for 19th with a 217 (+4). Her final round of 782 (+1) had four birdies, yet three bogeys and a double-bogey on the par-3 319 No. 4 pushed her score over par. This tournament was her eighth-career top-25 finish and her fifth as a Trojan.
Sophomore Kylie Chong was the biggest mover for the Trojans by firing a team-best 69 (-2) on Tuesday. She started the day in a tie for 43rd but surged 20 places to finish tied for 23rd with a three-round score of 218 (+5). Chong led the team with five birdies in the final round, plus she also shared the team-low with three bogeys.
Senior Catherine Park had the second-best round of the day by firing a 70 (-1). Like Chong, Park had just three bogeys to go along with four birdies in the final round. She moved up 18 places to finish in a tie for 43rd with a 222 (+9).
Rounding out the scores for USC, Jasmine Koo moved up 10 places into a tie for 63rd with a 226 (+13), while Chloe Kim finished in a tie for 68th with a 227 (+14), competing as an individual.
