February 24, 2026 | Track & Field
LOS ANGELES – USC Track and Field alumnus Earl McCullouch is set to be inducted into the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Collegiate Hall of Fame, the USTFCCCA announced Tuesday.
A 1968 graduate of USC, McCullouch earned four NCAA All-American honors during his remarkable collegiate track career. He achieved All-American status in the 120-meter hurdles, 110-meter hurdles, and twice as a member of USC's 4x100-meter relay team.
McCullouch dominated the national stage, securing back-to-back NCAA titles in the 120-meter high hurdles in 1967 and 1968, in addition to winning the NCAA indoor 60-meter high hurdles championship. His success carried over internationally in 1967 when he claimed gold medals in the 110-meter hurdles and 4x100-meter relay at the Pan American Games.
Already a member of the USC Athletic Hall of Fame since 2007, McCullouch's induction into the USTFCCCA Collegiate Hall of Fame adds another prestigious milestone to his decorated career.
In addition to his track and field accomplishments, McCullouch excelled on the football field as a wide receiver for the Trojans. In 1967, he earned First-Team All-Pac-8 honors, along with First-Team AP All-Coast and UPI All-Coast recognition. He was a key contributor to USC's 1967 national championship team and went on to be a standout player in the 1968 College All-Star Game, catching two touchdown passes.
McCullouch continued his football career at the professional level after being selected by the Detroit Lions in 1968, where he earned NFL Rookie of the Year honors. He played seven seasons in Detroit before being traded to the New Orleans Saints in 1974. Following the 1974 season, he officially retired from professional football.
The USTFCCCA Hall of Fame class will be enshrined on Sunday, June 7 at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene, Oregon. The induction ceremony is free and open to the public and will be held three days prior to the start of the 2026 NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.
