No. 4 USC Beach Volleyball Starts Season 2-0 With Wins Over Stanford and Loyola Marymount

The Women of Troy took down No. 2 Stanford 3-2 and defeated No. 7 LMU 4-1.
HONOLULU – No. 4 USC Beach Volleyball (2-0) started the 2026 season off strong today, Feb. 19, at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic. The Women of Troy took down No. 2 Stanford 3-2 in the first match of the day and followed that up with a 4-1 win over No. 7 Loyola Marymount. With the first win of the day, USC is now 15-0 in season openers. The Trojans also have an overall record of 18-6 against Stanford and an overall record of 33-2 against Loyola Marymount.
Playing in the top spot for the Trojans was Kennedy Coakley and Ashley Pater, who finished the day going 1-1. They were the first pair to finish in the team's win over Stanford, taking down Kelly Belardi and Ruby Sorra with scores of 21-19 and 21-17. They went on to lose a three-set match against LMU's Tanon Rosenthal and Anna Pelloia with scores of 19-21, 21-17, 10-15. Pater and Coakley are now 1-1 on the season and have a career record of 29-5.
At the No. 2 spot was Zoey Henson and Sarah Wood, who were one of two USC pairs to go 2-0 on the day. The duo kicked off their partnership by beating the Cardinal's Avery Jackson and Brooke Rockwell 21-19 and 28-26. Henson and Wood also secured the win for USC over LMU as they took down Magdalena Rabitsch and Ines Piret in two sets with scores of 21-15, 21-18. With the win over Stanford, Wood locked in her first collegiate win.
Coming as the third pair was Alana Embry and Madison Goellner. They fell in two sets to Stanford's Indigo Clarke and Clara Stowell to start the day. During USC's match against LMU, the Lions' third pair was not able to finish the match, giving Embry and Goellner the win.
USC's fourth pair of Quincy Stephens and Kaileigh Truslow ended the day 1-1. They dropped a close three-set match to Stanford's Charlotta Bell and Logan Tusher with scores of 21-14, 19-21 and 11-15. During their match against the Lions, Stephens and Truslow locked in a win over Josefine Schaelkel and Anja Trailovic with scores of 21-14 and 21-12.
The fifth pair featured Kyra Zaengle and Calinda Kok, who also ended the day 2-0. The duo finished second in the team's win over the Cardinal, winning 21-16 and 22-20 over Elena Fisher and Chloe Hoffman. They also added a win against LMU with scores of 21-17 and 21-17. Zaengle won the first two matches of her career, while Kok now boasts a 9-3 record.
