No. 22 USC Men's Tennis Stalls Out Against No. 3 Stanford

Trojans come up short in singles play against Cardinal.
PALO ALTO, Calif. — No. 22 USC men's tennis saw its Bay Area road trip come to a close with a 4–1 loss to No. 3 Stanford on Sunday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Center.
Stanford jumped out to an early advantage by taking the doubles point with wins on courts three and two. The duo of Aryan Banerjee and Mark Krupkin opened doubles play with a 6–1 victory over Connor Church and Tadeas Hayos on court three, before Alex Chang and Jagger Leach followed with a 6–3 win against Max Exsted and Nathan Trouve on court two. The top doubles match between Andrin Casanova and Jack McCarthy and Stanford's Alexander Razeghi and Hudson Rivera was left unfinished at 4–4.
USC responded quickly in singles as Trouve earned the Trojans' lone point of the match. Competing on court one, the junior delivered a straight-set victory over Samir Banerjee, 6–3, 6–2, evening the score at 1–1 early in singles play.
Stanford regained control with wins on courts six and four. Krupkin defeated Church in a tight contest, 6–3, 7–6 (6), before Jagger Leach rallied past Niels Hoffman, 3–6, 6–4, 6–0, pushing the Cardinal ahead, 3–1.
The dual was clinched on court three, where Hudson Rivera edged Jack McCarthy in a hard-fought battle, 6–3, 7–6 (3), giving Stanford its fourth point of the afternoon. Matches on courts two and five were left unfinished, with Exsted holding a narrow lead over No. 67 Alex Chang and Casanova ahead of Razeghi at the time of stoppage.
USC concludes the weekend with a split of its two ranked road matches, now dropping to 4-3 overall.
Up next, USC returns home to host UNLV and UC Irvine for a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 8.
