Flores' Brace Leads USC Women's Soccer Past Michigan, 2-1

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Maribel Flores scored twice as the USC women's soccer team picked up a win on the road Thursday night, taking down Michigan 2-1.
The victory moves the Trojans to 4-2-1 on the season and 1-1 in Big Ten play. Michigan falls to 3-5-1, 0-1-1.
The scoring opened in the 24th minute, when Faith George passed up to Jaiden Anderson, who found a cutting Flores for a one-touch strike. Eight minutes later, Michigan scored, but after review was called off due to a handball. In the 45th minute, just before the half, Michigan got on the board with a Lilley Bosley goal.
Flores struck again in the 67th minute, getting a pass from Murphy Walsh, popping the ball up and striking it off the volley from just outside the box. It was the second brace of the season for the Trojan junior as she leads USC with five goals on the year.
The Trojan defense made the score line stand, holding the Wolverines scoreless for the final 45 minutes of play. The Trojans outshot Michigan 9-6, with a one-shot on goal advantage (3-2).
SCORING
24' – USC: Maribel Flores (assisted by Jaiden Anderson, Faith George) – Anderson collected a pass at the top of the area from George, then led Flores with a pass, who one-timed it past the goalkeeper and inside the right post.
45' – Michigan: Lilley Bosley (unassisted) – After a deep ball off a free kick and a scuffle in the area, the ball found Bosley on the right side of the area and she scored inside the left post.
67' – USC: Maribel Flores (assisted by Murphy Walsh) – Flores passed to Walsh at the top of the box, who ran a give-and-go with Flores. Flores popped the pass up and fired a right-footed one-touch volley into the back of the net, inside the right post.
