June 11, 2025 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced its postseason All-Region teams this week and USC baseball's Ethan Hedges and Caden Aoki earned All-West Region second team honors.
The pair of All-Region nods marks the second time in three years USC has had multiple players earn regional honors, with Aoki also garnering second team recognition in 2023 along with Kyle Wisch.
Hedges established himself as USC's offensive leader and closer, earning recognition as one of the top two-way players in the country this season. On the mound, he recorded nine saves, which was second most in the Big Ten and 23rd in the nation, posting a 2.40 ERA in 15 relief appearances, holding opponents to just a .173 batting average. At the plate, Hedges posted the 11th best batting average in the Big Ten at .346, and the sixth most hits in the league with 80. He drove in 58 runs and scored 57 more, hitting 14 homers, 11 doubles and five triples. Hedges also was eighth in the Big Ten with 44 walks and went 10-for-10 in stolen base attempts. Hedges was named to the All-Big Ten first team and is one of five finalists for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year award.
Aoki once again showed himself to be the anchor of the Trojan pitching staff, posting a 3.99 ERA and 6-4 record in 16 starts on the mound. The right-hander's strikeout-to-walk ratio was elite at 6.43, which was good for seventh in the nation and first in the Big Ten. Aoki struck out a total of 90 batters while walking just 14 in his 97.0 innings pitched. His `1.10 WHIP was fifth in the Big Ten and his 1.30 walks per nine innings was good for first in the conference and ninth in the NCAA. Aoki was named to the All-Big Ten second team and earned All-Corvallis Regional honors as well.
