LOS ANGELES—Redshirt junior safety Kamari Ramsey and redshirt senior linebacker Eric Gentry have been named to the 2025 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List.
The 42-man watch list is comprised of 16 defensive linemen, 13 linebackers and 13 defensive backs.
Ramsey, one of the nation's top defenders, recorded 60 tackles, including 5.5 for loss of 26 yards (with 2 sacks for minus 19 yards), 5 PBUs, 2 forced fumbles, 1 INT and 1 QB hurry while appearing and starting in 11 games as a redshirt sophomore in 2024. He was named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention. After his performance versus LSU to open the 2024 season, he was named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week when he tallied 9 tackles against the Tigers.
With his unique frame as a 6-6 inside linebacker, Gentry looks to be an impact player for the Trojans in 2025. Gentry saw action in 5 games (LSU, Utah State, Michigan, Wisconsin and the Las Vegas Bowl against Texas A&M) and recorded 2 starts at linebacker in 2024. He tallied 33 total tackles, including 6.5 for loss of 17 yards (with 2 sacks for minus 11 yards). He also had 1 PBU and 1 fumble recovery. He was sidelined after the first 4 games of the season games due to injury, but was able to redshirt.
The Lott IMPACT Trophy is the only major college football award that considers character.
Named after former NFL Hall of Fame star and former USC great Ronnie Lott, the Lott Trophy is annually presented to the Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year, a player who has had the biggest impact on his team both on and off the field.
IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity, all characteristics exhibited by Lott during his illustrious playing career.
The annual winner is selected by a national voter panel, consisting of former winners, members of the media, coaches and members of the Board of Directors of the IMPACT Foundation.
The winner of the Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced on Dec. 9 at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, one day before the National Football Foundation Annual Awards Dinner.
