USC Baseball Earns At-Large Berth in NCAA Tournament
May 26, 2025 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES – The field for the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament was released on Monday and for the first time since 2015, the USC baseball team was included in the postseason field. USC earned an at-large berth and will be the No. 3 seed in the Corvallis Regional hosted by Oregon State.
USC earned the berth after going 35-21 overall this season and finishing fourth in the Big Ten with an 18-12 conference record. The Trojans will face TCU in their opening game on Friday. The full regional schedule and ticket information will be available soon.
Three years into the Andy Stankiewicz era, USC accomplished what had been done just once since 2005 in earning a spot in the NCAA postseason field. Overall, it will be the Trojans' 41st NCAA Tournament appearance. In USC's last appearance in the field of 64, the Trojans were in the 2015 Lake Elsinore Regional hosted by UC Santa Barbara and made the regional final before falling to Virginia in an epic 11-inning game that spanned 10 hours over two days. USC's postseason appearance before that came in 2005 under hall-of-fame coach Mike Gillespie.
Despite recent struggles, USC still owns by far the most NCAA Titles of any program with 12, surpassing the next closest contender by nearly double (LSU at seven). The Trojans have made 21 College World Series appearances and own an overall postseason record of 208-77. USC's last CWS appearance was in 2001 and the program's last CWS title was in 1998.
Over the last three years under Head Coach Andy Stankiewicz, USC has posted the first back-to-back-to-back 30-win seasons since the Mike Gillespie era, with Stankiewicz becoming the first USC coach since Gillespie to win at least 100 games in their first three seasons at the University.
