CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – USC women's golf freshman Jasmine Koo was named to the WGCA Freshman of the Year watch list, the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced Thursday, May 15.
The WGCA Freshman of the Year watch list annually recognizes the top five freshman across Division I women's golf. The winner of the award will be chosen amongst the five watch list finalists.
Koo was named the unanimous Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was All-Big Ten first team after leading USC in wins (four), stroke average (70.94), rounds under par (17) and birdies (130). The freshman's four wins this season are tied for the most in program history; she also tied the record for most wins in succession as she won three straight (Windy City Collegiate Classic; Stanford Intercollegiate; East Lake Cup). Koo also leads the Trojans in rounds in the 60s (12), as she broke the program record previously set by Amari Avery (2023) and Kyung Kim (2014).
According to the Scoreboard Clippd rankings, the freshman is ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Division I Women's Individual Rankings. Koo peaked as the No. 1 player in those rankings twice this season. Koo is also ranked No. 6 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
The Women of Troy are set for the NCAA Championship Finals, as they hope to make another run into match play. The stroke play portion of the competition will start on Friday, May 16 and go through Monday, May 19.
