May 12, 2025 | Men's Golf
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Freshman Jaden Dumdumaya is amongst the top 10, individually, as USC is 10th out of 14 teams at five-over par (293) after round one of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Monday, May 12, at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
The Trojans were three-under par on the front nine, before eventually counting scores of 69-74-75-75 (+5, 293). Dumdumaya led USC in round one with a three under-par round of 69 placing him in a current tie for 7th place. Host school, Florida State, is currently leading the tournament at 14-under par.
"We lost some concentration out there today at times. We will continue to stick to our game plan, and clean up the things we didn't do well," said Coach Mark Hankins. "You can only control what you do, so that is our focus each and every time we head to the golf course. Continue to trust the process."
Dumdumaya continues to record successful round this season, as he posted his second round in the 60s in the past three tournaments, and his third overall. The freshman opened the tournament with a birdie on No. 1, followed by three other birdies on the front side – 32 (-4). Dumdumaya recorded one birdie on the back nine and had two bogeys – 37 (+1). His first round 69 (-3) has him tied for 7th in the field.
Senior Gavin Aurilia was second on the squad at two-over par, tying him for 41st in the field. Aurilia joined Dumdumaya in shooting under par on the front nine, as the senior posted a 35 (-1), before following it up with a 39 (+3) – five-over par overall. Aurilia opened with two birdies in succession – holes No. 1 and 2 – before a bogey-birdie combo to follow. From holes No. 9 to 18, the senior would post four bogeys to push him over par.
Sophomore Jack Jerge and freshman Jack Buchanan both secured 75s (three-over par) to tie them for 52nd in the field. Jerge was one-under par outside of two double-bogeys, but those two mistakes highlighted his round – Nos. 1 and 12. Buchanan posted one double-bogey and had four bogeys, but helped manage his score with a birdie on hole No. 18.
Junior Antonio Safa is tied for 62nd on the leaderboard after posting a 77 (+5) in the first round of competition.
USC remains only eight strokes out of the top five, as it competes in the second round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional at 4:30 a.m. PST/7:30 a.m. EST tomorrow (May 13) in Tallahassee, Fla., at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
