No. 22 USC Women's Tennis Upsets No. 19 Wisconsin

LOS ANGELES – No. 22 USC women's tennis turned in a top 20 victory on Sunday afternoon as the Trojans beat No. 19 Wisconsin 4-1 at Marks Tennis Stadium.
With the win, USC improves to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
The Women of Troy got off to a swift start, claiming the doubles point to put USC in front by one point. Emma Charney and Parker Fry beat Wisconsin's Ekaterina Ivanova and Parker Christensen 6-1 just minutes before Sloane Morra and Immi Haddad beat Wisconsin's Cataldi/Reynoldson 6-3 on court two to haul in the doubles point.
Moving into singles play with a one-point advantage, Wisconsin fought back, evening the score with a win on center court as No. 5 ranked Maria Sholokhova beat No. 53 ranked Grace Piper 6-3, 6-1. From there, the Trojans never let up, winning three straight matches on courts three, four and five. On court three, sophomore Lily Faiclough got back in the win column, beating Ekaterina Ivanova 6-4, 6-3 to put the Trojans back in the lead. Fellow sophomore No. 89 ranked Immi Haddad followed it up with a three-set victory over Wisconsin's Ariel Johnson – 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Graduate student Maia Sung delivered the clincher on court five, beating Ellison Reynoldson 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 to solidify the victory for the Women of Troy.
USC returns to action next weekend as the Trojans travel to Nebraska for a Friday 3 p.m. PT match and Sunday 10 a.m. match at Iowa.
