The Women of Troy improved to 20-6 with a 4-0 weekend at Best in the West on Laguna Beach sand

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. – The seventh-ranked USC beach volleyball team (20-6) collected a 5-0 sweep of No. 16 North Florida (17-4) to close the Trojans' time at the Best in the West event on Main Beach on Saturday, April 5.

USC finished the weekend 4-0 in its first dual matches played in Laguna Beach and extended its win streak to five. The Trojans improved to 4-0 in meetings with the Ospreys and collected the program's 162nd all-time 5-0 sweep.

The Trojans scored the first point of the dual when junior Delaney Karl and graduate Ella Larkin collected a 21-17, 21-12 win over Cameron Humphries and Taylor Pierce at the No. 3 position to improve to 7-1 together.

USC went on top, 2-0, on a 21-19, 21-14 win at the No. 4 position where graduate Maya Gessner and junior Mabyn Thomas got the win against Andrea Da Silva and Hayden Woolridge. Gessner-Thomas finishes the weekend 4-0 in their first-time playing together.

The clinching point came from the No. 5 position when sophomores Madison Goellner and Kaileigh Truslow claimed a 21-18, 23-21 win over Emily Guenter and Anne Marie Hardouin. Goellner-Truslow moves to 8-4 with a three-match win streak.

USC's No. 1 pair of sophomore Zoey Henson and junior Madison White moved to 18-5 with four victories in a row on a 21-10, 21-11 win over Mackenzie Murphy and Presley Murray at the top court. The win made the score 4-0 for the Women of Troy.

In the only match to go three sets, freshman Kennedy Coakley and sophomore Ashley Pater extended their win streak to 16 matches and became the first USC duo to reach 20 wins this season (20-2) with a 16-21, 21-13, 15-8 victory over Madison Espy and Mariana Feliciano Sanchez at the No. 2 position.

The Women of Troy will take their five-dual win streak up the coast next week for the Center of Effort Challenge hosted by Cal Poly at the Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex in San Luis Obispo, Calif. (April 11-12).
