April 28, 2025 | Women's Golf
LOS ANGELES – USC women's golf freshman Jasmine Koo (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos HS) was chosen as the unanimous Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was also selected part of the first-team all-conference list, highlighting a trio of Trojans selected for league postseason honors on Monday, April 28.
Junior Catherine Park (Irvine, Calif./Crean Luther) was named alongside Koo to the All-Big Ten first team; and sophomore Bailey Shoemaker (Dade City, Fla./Florida Virtual) was named to the second team. The Big Ten also nominates one player from each team to receive the Sportsmanship Award, and USC's representative was Park.
This is the Trojans' first time on the all-conference list for the Big Ten, as USC competed in its inaugural year with the conference. Park is the lone Trojan to have already been recognized by a previous conference, as she was a two-time Pac-12 all-conference first-team member.
Koo led USC in wins (four), stroke average (70.68), rounds under par (16) and birdies (123). The freshman's four wins this season are tied for the most in program history; she also tied the record for most wins in succession as she won three straight (Windy City Collegiate Classic; Stanford Intercollegiate; East Lake Cup). Koo also led the Trojans for rounds in the 60s (11), as she is tied for the most in program history in a single season with Amari Avery (2023) and Kyung Kim (2014). Koo is currently ranked as the No. 7 player in the Clippd Scoreboard rankings, as she peaked at No. 1 twice this season. The freshman was also named to the ANNIKA Postseason Watch List ahead of the Big Ten Tournament.
Park is second on the team in wins (one), stroke average (71.04) and rounds under par (13), while being first in top 10 finishes (seven) and rounds at par or better (19). The junior recorded four second-place finishes this season, as her lone victory came in the first tournament of the year (Leadership and Golf Invitational). Park lead the Trojans in the Big Ten Tournament as she was a member of the All-Tournament team and tied for fifth at two-under par. She is currently ranked as the No. 20 player in the Clippd Scoreboard rankings.
Shoemaker earned her spot on the all-conference second team. She was third on the team in stroke average (73.07), rounds at par or better (11) and top-10 finishes (2). The sophomore's best finish of the season came at the Leadership and Golf Invitational when she placed in the top six at three under par.
No. 9-ranked USC earned the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Lexington Regionals after posting four wins and eight top-three finishes during the 2024-25 season. The Trojans' NCAA postseason run begins Monday, May 5, through Wednesday, May 7, at the Keene Trace G.C. – Champions Course in Lexington, Ky.
