USC Rowing Wraps Up Competition at Big Ten Invitational
April 19, 2025 | Women's Rowing
The Trojans’ third round of races are highlighted by a win from the 3V8+ boat.
SARASOTA, FLA. — The USC women's rowing team competed in its third rounds of competition Sunday morning. All six boats hit the water after racing throughout the first day of the invite.Â
Despite winds and waves, the Trojans pulled out a 3V8+ win to begin the morning, with their boat winning two races this weekend. Other USC boats battled it out with tough competition and maintained steady rhythm throughout the entire sprint races.
Full results and lineups from today's racing are below. Here's how each Trojan boat performed:
3V8+
USC's 3V8+ settled into a comfortable base pace on the water just 90 seconds out. At the two-minute mark, the Trojans broke contact with the other crews to become the leader of the pack. USC handily took a full seven seats above the rest of the competition. The Trojans stayed the course for the final 500 meters to finish in first place with a time of 6:59.348, claiming its second victory of the invitational.
2V4+
USC was off to a strong start in Lane 2, battling out with boats in Lanes 1 and 5. In the second half of the race, the Trojans were edged out and finished fifth.Â
1V4+
The Trojans remained in contact with five teams, falling into a steady rhythm to close in on third place. As the boats sailed into the last 750 meters, USC made a push but crossed the line fourth, less than two milliseconds after Indiana, six seconds after the second-place boat and ten seconds after the first-place finish.
2V8+
USC took fifth place after seeing close contact with the other lanes and holding strong over the sixth-place boat.
1V8+
After several strong boats pulled out early, USC maintained a steady pace and finished sixth.Â
3V4+
USC clashed with the second-place boat. The Trojans fought back from four seats to be neck-and-neck with Indiana, later placing third with a time of 8:07.882, 10 seconds faster than the fourth-place finisher.
