The Trojans hand crosstown rival UCLA the Bruins’ first loss of the season
HONOLULU – The No. 1-ranked USC beach volleyball team (3-2) scored a 3-2 victory over crosstown rival No. 3 UCLA (5-1) at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic on Queen's Beach, to hand the Bruins their first loss of the season on Saturday, Feb. 22.

USC scored the first two points of the dual with wins at the corners. At the top court, sophomore Zoey Henson and junior Madison White went gangbusters to get a 21-6 win over Maggie Boyd and Sally Perez in their first set. The second set was far closer, but Henson-White prevailed in extra points, 24-22, to make it 1-0 USC.
The Trojans went up, 2-0, when junior Delaney Karl and sophomore Kaileigh Truslow completed a 21-18, 21-19 win over Harper Cooper and Sophie Moore at the No. 5 position. The lead was short-lived as UCLA fired back to get its first point with a win at the No. 4 position when Alexa Fernandez and Kaley Mathews got a 21-15, 21-19 win over sophomore Madison Goellner and graduate Ella Larkin.
