No. 2 USC Men’s Water Polo Rolls Into MPSF Semifinals
November 21, 2025 | Men's Water Polo
PALO ALTO - No. 2 USC Men's Water Polo breezed past No. 7 seed Austin College in the first round of the MPSF Tournament Friday evening in Palo Alto, Calif. The Trojans scored the first six goals of the game and eased to a 24-5 victory.
Strahinja Krstic and Andrej Grgurevic each scored hat tricks in the first quarter as the Trojans led 8-1 after the first period. Jack Martin scored a hat trick himself in the second quarter and USC went into the break up 13-2. The Trojans used the second half to get playing time for more inexperienced players, such as Chase Landa who scored a career high five goals in the second half. Efe Naipoglu scored a hat trick, along with a bevy of USC players who found the back of the net.
The 24 goals scored by USC is one short of their season high and the five goals allowed is their fewest this season. Charlie Mills and Bernando Herzer split time in the cage for the Trojans, combining for eight saves.
Next up for USC is the MPSF semifinals against No. 3 Stanford, who defeated Augustana in the first round. The winner will play for the MPSF Championship Sunday afternoon, while the loser will be in the third-place game. The Trojans will face the Cardinal Nov. 22nd at 3p.m at the Avery Aquatic Center in Palo Alto, Calif. and will be streamed live on Overnght.com.
