LOS ANGELES – USC Women's Soccer ended the regular season with a scoreless draw against No. 18 UCLA at Wallis Annenberg Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 26.
With this result, USC finishes the season with a 7-6-3 overall record and 4-5-2 Big Ten record, while UCLA moves to 10-4-3 overall and 6-2-3 in Big Ten play.
Despite numerous efforts by UCLA in the first 25 minutes, the USC defense kept the Bruins from scoring, and that was the trend throughout the entire game. The Bruins outshot the Trojans 19 to 6. UCLA put seven of those shots on goal compared to USC, who didn't get any shots on goal.
Bella Grust held down the defense as she tied her season-high with seven saves during today's match, six of which came in the second half. This is her sixth clean sheet of the season.
One of the best opportunities for USC to score came in the 59th minute when Jaiden Andersen maneuvered around three UCLA defenders to set up Maribel Flores, whose shot got blocked by a Bruin. This was one of Flores' three attempts for the day. Anderson also contributed a shot towards the end of the game that went high.
