Jasmine Koo is tied for fifth place following the first round.
STANFORD, Calif. – No. 2 USC Women's Golf sits in ninth place out of 19 teams through the first round of competition at the Stanford Intercollegiate.
Jasmine Koo had the highest finish of the day as she tied for fifth place, wrapping up the first round by going three under par. Catherine Park is also in the top 15 as she is one under par.
Koo started the day strong with a birdie, and that momentum carried her through the front nine. She grabbed two more on the sixth and eighth holes, which allowed her to go three-under-par heading into the back nine. Koo faltered slightly with two bogeys on the 12th and 14th holes, but she cleaned up her game by ending the round with two birdies. This allowed her to finish round one going three under par.
Park began the day strong with birdies on the first and fourth holes. Due to a bogey on hole seven, she sat at one-under-par heading into the back nine. From there, Park stayed consistent as she went even through the final nine holes, resulting in her staying one under par for the day.
Elise Lee was also consistent for the Trojans. She went even through the first nine holes before going one over in the back nine, resulting in her finishing one over on the day. This caused her to be tied for 32nd heading into Saturday.
USC will be back in action tomorrow, Oct. 18, for the second round of the tournament. The Trojans will tee off at 11:45 a.m. on hole one.
