USC Women’s Tennis Headed to North Carolina for ITA All-American Championships
September 19, 2024 | Women's Tennis
Trojans will have the first of three opportunities this fall to earn a spot in NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship Tournaments.
LOS ANGELES –USC Women's Tennis continues the fall season as the Trojans head to Cary, N.C. for the ITA All-American Championships running Sat., Sept. 21 through Sun., Sept. 29.
Junior Emma Charney will lead the way for the Women of Troy coming off a striking semifinals finish in the Battle of the Bay tournament this past weekend. Last year, Charney helped capture the ITA All-American doubles consolation title alongside Eryn Cayetano and led USC in the singles tournament. She will look to build on her success and fight her way into the tournament's final rounds to potentially punch her ticket into the NCAA Singles championships.
Seniors Grace Piper and Parker Fry will also be returning to Cary for the second straight season. Last year, the two paired up and stormed out to a three-match win streak in the double's tournament. Fry kicked off the 2024 season with a quarterfinals run in San Francisco last weekend, while Piper will take to the court for this first time this fall in Cary.
Three Trojans will be making their ITA All-American Championship debuts in the Cardinal and Gold. Graduate transfer Maia Sung and sophomores Immi Haddad and Lily Fairclough will all see action across the singles and doubles tournaments as they kick off their first full seasons with USC. All three took part in the Battle of the Bay tournament this past weekend.
The stakes will be high for the Women of Troy with the NCAA Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships taking place during the fall for the first season. At All-Americans, ten qualification spots will be available for the women's NCAA singles championship draw (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists), while four doubles teams will qualify for the national championship bracket (main draw semifinalists).
