USC's Simi Awujo Signs With Manchester United

LOS ANGELES – Fresh off her first Olympic appearance, USC's Simi Awujo signed her first professional contract on Friday (Aug. 9), joining Manchester United in the English Women's Super League.
Awujo, who has been named to the All-Pac-12 first team each of the last two years, will join United for this upcoming season.
Awujo, is coming off three appearances with the Canadian National Team at the Paris Olympics, starting two of the three contests. Through her 20 international caps with Canada, Awujo has started eight times and owns one international goal, scoring for Canada against Brazil in the semifinals of the SheBelieves Cup this past April. Awujo also competed with the Canadian U-20 squad at the U-20 World Cup in the summer of 2022 and later that year received her first call up to the senior National Team. She was named Canada Soccer's 2022 Young Player of the Year.
Over the last three years at USC, Awujo has been named to the All-Pac-12 first team twice, to the All-Region second team in 2023 and the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team in 2021. In 49 games at USC, she has made 40 starts, scoring four goals and posting seven assists.
Manchester United opens Super League play on Sept. 21. The Red Devils are coming off a fifth place finish this past season and were runners-up in the Super League two years ago. Awujo is one of five signings United has made this offseason.
