#USC2Paris Olympics Recap (Day Nine): Nicole Yeargin Earns USC’s First Medal In Paris With Relay Bronze For Great Britain

Trojan swimming alumnae Louise Hansson and Kasia Wilk-Wasick are both through to final events after strong performances in the pool today.
PARIS, FRANCE — USC's first medal in Paris went to track Trojan Nicole Yeargin with Great Britain in the mixed 4x400 relay. Yeargin had anchored Great Britain's preliminary relay race in a national-record time yesterday, and her teammates raced to a third-place finish in today's final to earn a bronze medal for the Great Britain team. It's Yeargin's first Olympic medal and the 77th bronze medal in history for USC. The Trojan men's water polo contingent representing Australia, Greece and the United States have all ensured tickets to quarterfinal rounds, with U.S. Trojan Hannes Daube going big today with a five-goal outburst to help Team USA beat Montenegro 12-7 today for a key second win in group play. Also collecting a clutch victory today was Latvia's Tina Graudina, who won her beach volleyball match to advance to the Round of 16. Women's Beach Volleyball
Graudina/Samoilova (LAT) def. Humana-Paredes/Wilkerson (CAN) 2-0
• A two-time national champion as a Trojan and two-time Olympian, Tina Graudina (Latvia) had 16 kills, six blocks and a dig to help her team beat its Canadian opponents Humana-Paredes/Wilkerson 2-0 (21-14, 22-20), finishing second in pool play to advance to the Round of 16.

100m Semifinals
• A first-time Olympian, TeeTee Terry (USA) placed third in her semifinal race and eighth overall in a time of 11.07 to advance to the final.
100m Final
• A first-time Olympian, TeeTee Terry (USA) finished fifth in a time of 10.97 in the final.
Mixed 4x400m Relay Final
• A two-time Olympian, Nicole Yeargin (Great Britain) did not race on Great Britain's final relay team, but earned a BRONZE MEDAL (USC's first medal in these Paris Olympics) as a member of Great Britain's preliminary race team, which set a national record in its first-place finish in its heat on Aug. 2.

• Three-time NCAA champion and three-time Olympian Louise Hansson helped her Sweden relay team place sixth with a time of 3:57.33 to advance to the final on Aug. 4.

• A 2018 NCAA champion at USC and first-time Olympian, goalie Nic Porter made eight saves to help Australia edge out Hungary and pick up the Aussies' third win of group play. With one game left in group play, Australia has already secured advancement to the quarterfinals.
• Two-time Olympian Blake Edwards scored two goals and had two field blocks and a steal for Australia in its win over Hungary.
• Two-time Olympian Lachlan Edwards recorded a rebound in Australia's win over Hungary.
• A 2018 NCAA champion at USC and first-time Olympian, Jacob Mercep played but did not score in Australia's win over Hungary.
Croatia 14, Greece 13
• Playing in his third Olympic Games, three-time NCAA champion Kostas Genidounias scored one goal and had a field block although Greece would take its first loss in Paris with a tight defeat to Croatia. With one game left in group play, Greece has already secured advancement to the quarterfinals.
USA 12, Montenegro 7
• Playing in his second Olympic Games, 2018 NCAA champion Hannes Daube scored five goals to tie the most ever scored in an Olympic men's water polo game, while adding a steal and a block in Team USA's win over Montenegro. With one game left in group play, the USA has already secured advancement to the quarterfinals.
• Playing in his second Olympic Games, 2018 NCAA champion Marko Vavic had a field block for Team USA in its win over Montenegro.

• First-time Olympian Simi Awujo started for Canada and played 109 minutes in today's quarterfinal in which Germany earned advancement with a penalty shootout.
