USC Women’s Golf Announces 2024-25 Schedule
August 19, 2024 | Women's Golf
The Trojans compete in nine tournaments, and a duel against UCLA before debuting at the Big Ten Championship in April
LOS ANGELES – Seventh-year head coach Justin Silverstein announced Friday, Aug. 16, the 2024-25 USC women's golf schedule. The Women of Troy will participate in five tournaments in the fall – including the coveted East Lake Cup – five in the spring, and a match against UCLA for the Battle of the Bell before debuting at the Big Ten Championship.
In this latest installment, USC will have a fresh look as they hope to return once again to the match play section of the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. The Women of Troy reloaded this season, as they lost a trio of players (Amari Avery, Brianna Navarrosa, and Christine Wang) but brought in one of the best recruiting classes in the nation with freshmen Jasmine Koo and Kylie Chong. Alongside those two is a trio of experienced starters: Catherine Park, Bailey Shoemaker, and Xin (Cindy) Kou. Park was one of the best golfers in the country last season, as she was named a First Team All-American by multiple outlets and was a finalist for the ANNIKA Award. Shoemaker returns for her sophomore season after finishing second at the Augusta National Women's Amateur, and Kou was named to the All-Conference Pac-12 First Team in 2023.
The Women of Troy begin their adventure into the season with four fall tournaments. USC starts its season with a similar opener to last year at the Leadership and Golf Invitational at Chambers Bay G.C. in University Place, Wash. (Sept. 16-17). Last season, the Trojans dominated the same tournament as they won by 31 strokes. USC will then compete with the same slate as last fall, as they play in the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Chicago (Sept. 30-Oct. 1), the Stanford Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif. (Oct. 18-20), before wrapping it up with the East Lake Cup in Atlanta (Oct. 28-30). The East Lake Cup will be streamed on the Golf Channel as the final four teams from last season compete in one round of stroke play before determining a champion in match play.
On the spring side, the Trojans will see five regular-season tournaments and a match-play dual against UCLA before heading into their first Big Ten Championship. USC will start with the Therese Hession Regional Challenge (Feb. 2-4) close to home at the Palos Verdes G.C. in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. The Trojans will then jump over to Palm Desert, Calif., to compete in the Alice and John Wallace Classic at the Monterey C.C. on Feb. 15-17, followed by the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational in Fairfax, Calif., at the Meadow Club on Mar. 3-4. The Women of Troy will get a quick break from tournaments with a home duel against the Bruins in the Battle for the Bell at the Palos Verdes G.C. on Mar. 17. The final two tournaments of the regular season will be the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational at the Colonial C.C. in Fort Worth, Texas (Mar. 24-25) and the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado C.C. in Napa, Calif. (Apr. 7-9).
The postseason will be different than any other year, as the Women of Troy start with the Big Ten Championship. That tournament will occur on Apr. 18-20 at the Bull Rock G.C. in Havre De Grace, Md. Following the B1G Championship will be the NCAA Regionals, which will be held between May 5-7. There are six designated regional locations: Birdwood G.C. (Charlottesville, Va.), Ohio State G.C. – Scarlet Course (Columbus, Ohio), Superstition Mountain Golf and C.C. (Golf Canyon, Ariz.), University Club of Kentucky (Lexington, Ky.), The Rawls Course (Lubbock, Texas) and the Jimmie Austin OU G.C. (Norman, Okla.). The National Championship will be held a few weeks later, on May 16-21, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa (Champions Course) in Carlsbad, Calif.
