No. 23 USC Women's Soccer Draws 2-2 at New Mexico State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The No. 23 USC women's soccer team opened the season with a draw, playing to a 2-2 tie on the road at New Mexico State on Thursday night.
Two new additions to the Trojan lineup provided the goals for USC, with transfers Maile Hayes and Maria Alagoa each slotting one home. New Mexico State scored twice in the final 14 minutes of play, getting the equalizer with 39 seconds left.
Hayes struck first for the Trojans, getting a feed from Helena Sampaio and tapping it around the keeper to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. USC took the advantage into the break and then Alagoa doubled the lead with a header in the 59th minute. Faith George picked up the assist on the second goal.
Kennedy Herrera got one back in the 77th minute for the home side and it was Meredith Scott who evened it off a rebound with just seconds left.
