PARIS, FRANCE — It was a largely successful day in and on the water today for USC's continent competing on day five of Olympic action in Paris. USC's program-record seven Trojans in the men's water polo field all emerged with wins with their respective nations today, with Team USA's Hannes Daube delivering his second straight hat trick in a key win for the United States. Also in the pool today, USC's first set of Trojan Olympian twins hit fast times in the 200-meter butterfly semifinals, with Michal Chmielewski recording a personal-best time and Krzysztof Chmielewksi setting a USC record in the event. Krzysztof earned a spot in tomorrow's final with his semifinal effort today. Meanwhile, in rowing, Denmark's Astrid Steensberg advanced to the women's four B Final with a good day on the water in Repechage. Men's Indoor Volleyball
USA 3, Germany 2
• Trojan alum and three-time Olympian Micah Christenson helped the USA to 3-2 (25-21, 25-17, 17-25, 20-25, 15-11) win in its second match in Pool C. He tallied 39 assists along with three digs and a block in the Team USA victory to improve the Americans to 2-0 in Paris.
Men's Beach Volleyball
Benesh/Partain (USA) def. Abicha/Elgaroui (Morocco)
• First-time Olympian Trojan Andy Benesh earned his first Olympic victory with a 2-0 (21-12, 28-26) win today. He recorded 16 kills, three aces, two digs and a block in the match.
Men's Swimming
200m Butterfly Heats
• Current Trojan and first-time Olympian Michal Chmielewski (Poland) finished seventh in a time of 1:55.28 to advance to the semifinals.
• Current Trojan and two-time Olympian Krzysztof Chmielewski (Poland) finished ninth in a time of 1:42 to advance to the semifinals.
200m Butterfly Semifinals
• Michal Chmielewski (Poland) finished ninth in a time of 1:54.64 to miss advancement to the final. His time was a personal best.
• Krzysztof Chmielewski (Poland) finished sixth in a time of 1:54.28 to advance to tomorrow's final. His time today set a new USC record in the 200m butterfly.
100m Freestyle Heats
• USC alum Dylan Carter (Trinidad & Tobago) finished 33rd in a time of 49.34 to miss advancement to the semifinals.
• USC alum Nikola Miljenic (Croatia) finished 34th in a time of 49.35 to miss advancement to the semifinals.
Men's Water Polo
Australia 8, Serbia 3
• A 2018 NCAA champion at USC, goalie Nic Porter made nine saves in Australia's win over Serbia.
• A 2018 NCAA champion at USC, Jacob Mercep scored one goal and had two steals and two blocks vs. Serbia.
• Two-time Olympian Lachlan Edwards started for Australia and got one rebound.
• Two-time Olympian Blake Edwards started for Australia and had a steal..

• Playing in his second Olympic Games, Hannes Daube scored three goals for Team USA vs. Italy.
• Playing in his second Olympic Games, Marko Vavic started and played almost 12 minutes for Team USA.
Greece 17, Montenegro 16 (penalty shootout)
• Playing in his third Olympic Games, three-time NCAA champion Kostas Genidounias scored a 5-meter penalty shot in the first period and then scored again in the deciding penalty shootout to help Greece beat Montenegro and register the Greeks' second win in group play.

• A first-time Olympian, Denmark's Astrid Steensberg finished third in her boat's race, qualifying the B Final on Aug. 1.
