USC T&F Heads To NCAA Championships in Oregon

No. 4 men's team has 13 scoring opportunities, No. 9 women's team 11
THIS WEEK - The USC track and field team will be competing at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Oregon at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. from June 5-8. The top 24 athletes in the country, 12 in each event from both the East & West Preliminary Rounds, have advanced to the championships. USC has 10 women who have qualified in individual events, plus the 4x400m relay for a total of 11 opportunities to score, tied for ninth-most by a school. The men's team has 11 athletes qualified in individual events, plus the two relays for a total of 13 opportunities to score at the Championships, tied for third-best among the teams competing.
USC AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS -- The USC men's track and field team has won 26 NCAA outdoor titles, more than double the next-best program Arkansas, which has won 12. USC won a record 9-straight titles from 1935-43. The USC women's team won the 2021 team title and has won it three times overall (also 2018 & 2001). USC's men have placed in the top 10 in 18 of the last 28 seasons. USC's women have finished in the top 10 in 17 of the last 28 seasons. USC's women have finished in the top three in four of the last six NCAA Outdoor Championships. At least one Trojan man or woman has won an individual NCAA outdoor title in 23 of the last 31 championships.

WHERE TO WATCH THE MEET - The 2024 NCAA Track & Field Championships will be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 and streamed on ESPN+. On June 5, the first day of the men's championship, ESPN2 will begin coverage at 4:30 p.m. On June 6, the first day of the women's competition, ESPN2 will begin coverage at 5:30 p.m. On June 7, the men's finals, coverage on ESPN2 will begin at 6 p.m. PT. On June 8, the women's finals, coverage on ESPN begins at 2:30 p.m. All times are Pacific.
TRAVELING TROJANS -- The following are the 22 athletes which are set to represent USC at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor T&F Championships, including alternates for the relays.Â
WOMEN: Jassani Carter (100m, 200m),Takiya Cenci (4x400m-alt.), Yemi John (400m), Jan'Taijah Jones (400m), Jasmine Jones (100m H, 400m H), Temi Ojora (TJ), Rae-Anne Serville (400m H), Jalaysiya Smith (100m H), Madison Whyte (200m).Â
MEN: Jacob Andrews (4x400m), Johnnie Blockburger (400m), Johnny Brackins Jr. (110m H, LJ), Racquil Broderick (DT), Gavin Champ (TJ), Elias Gerald (HJ), William Jones (4x400m),  Leif Nelson (JT), Nikolaos Polychroniou (HT), Darius Rainey (4x400m), JC Stevenson (LJ), Max Thomas (100m, 200m), Travis Williams (4x100m).
THE GREEK HAMMER - Junior hammer thrower Nikolaos Polychroniou from Athens, Greece, had a PR of 246-10 (75.24m) to win the USC-UCLA Dual Meet hammer throw competition on April 27. His throw moved him from sixth to third on USC's all-time list and he ended the regular season ranked fourth in the country. Polychroniou placed second in the hammer throw at the 2024 Pac-12 Championships, his second consecutive runner-up finish. He went on to place second at the West Preliminary Rounds. Last year he finished fifth at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors.
JONES CLEARING ALL HURDLES - 2022 Pac-12 100m hurdles champion and 2022 NCAA 100m hurdles runner-up Jasmine Jones is back in action after battling injuries since then. First she won the 2024 NCAA indoor 60m hurdles title with a school-record time of 7.77. Then, she won the Pac-12 100m and 400m hurdles titles, the latter with a meet-record time of 53.87. Jones had the top NCAA 400m hurdles time and the 10th-fastest 100m hurdles time before the NCAA Preliminary Rounds, the only NCAA woman to rank in the top 10 in both events this season. Â
OJORA SOARING TO NEW HEIGHTS - USC senior jumper Temi Ojora placed second at the NCAA West Prelims with a school record jump of 45-7.25/13.90 (+2.0), breaking Wendy Browns mark which had stood since 1988. She entered the meet ranked third in the country. She won all five of her triple jump competitions this season before the West Prelims, including winning the Pac-12 title with a jump of 44-5.25/13.54m (-1.2) on May 12. Ojora also has cleared a career-best 5-10.75 (1.80m) in the high jump and has a long jump best this season of 20-7.75/6.29m (+1.4). She won all three events at the annual USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 28 to lead USC to victory, its 10th consecutive over the Bruins.
WILLIAMS AND KISS GET CALL FROM THE HALL -- Angela Williams, the only 4-time NCAA 100m champion, and Balazs Kiss, 4-time NCAA hammer throw champion and NCAA record-holder in the event were inducted into the T&F Hall of Fame on Sunday, June 2. The induction ceremony, produced by the USTFCCCA and hosted by former ESPN personality Neil Everett, was held at the Hull Center for Performing Arts in Eugene, Ore.
