Five Trojans Earn All-Pac-12 Recognition

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The postseason awards were released for the Pac-12 conference on Tuesday and five USC baseball players earned recognition.
Josh Blum and Xavier Martinez were both named to the All-Pac-12 first team, while Jacob Galloway, Ryan Jackson and Austin Overn earned honorable mention. Overn was also named to the conference's All-Defensive Team.
All-Pac-12 First Team
Josh Blum, JR, RHP – Blum turned in a stellar season out of the bullpen for USC, posting seven saves and a 1.88 ERA in 23 appearances on the mound. Blum tossed 28.2 innings, striking out a staggering 41 batters while walking just 10 over that span. Opponents hit just .124 against him on the season. Blum gave up earned runs in only four of his 23 appearances and did not give up an earned run in his final nine appearances of the regular season. It is Blum's first All-Pac-12 award.
Xavier Martinez, JR, RHP – Martinez, a transfer from CSUN, has been one of the Pac-12's best relievers all season, making a conference and team high 28 appearances on the mound for USC. The junior righty turned in a 2.08 ERA in 43.1 innings pitched over the course of the regular season, holding opponents to a .176 batting average. Martinez also has 53 strikeouts to 23 walks on the year, and only once (his first outing of the year) has he given up more than one run in a relief appearance. Martinez earned All-Big West honorable mention last season at CSUN.
All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention
Jacob Galloway, SO, C – Galloway has been USC's offensive catalyst for the entire season, consistently batting above .300 all year while driving in a team high 40 runs and posting a team best .876 OPS. He has six homers and 16 doubles and is second on the team with 42 runs scored. Galloway had a 22-game hitting streak earlier in the year and caught nine runners stealing from behind the dish.
Ryan Jackson, SR, INF – Jackson has been a picture of consistency for USC, posting a team high 68 hits on the year and hitting .315 heading into postseason play. Jackson is one of three Trojans to have played in all 55 games this year, making 54 starts at either second base or shortstop. His 22 multi-hit games are the most of any Trojan, and his 10 multi-RBI games are second on the team.
Austin Overn, SO, OF – Overn has also played in every game for USC this season, starting all 55 of them through the regular season. The sophomore centerfielder leads the Trojans with eight homers on the year and has a team high .482 slugging percentage, with five triples and 12 doubles as well. He leads the team with 55 runs scored and 17 stolen bases as well and has solidified himself as one of the nation's top centerfielders, earning Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honors for the second straight season. Overn was also named to the All-Pac-12 first team last year.
