Trojans Win Four Events During First Day Of The Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational

Stevenson posts NCAA-leading long jump; 3 athletes register school top 10 marks
JC Stevenson won the men's long jump with the NCAA-leading jump, Racquil Broderick won the men's discus throw, Yougendy Mauricette the men's 400m hurdles and Johnnie Blockburger the men's 200m dash during the first day of the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational held at E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas today (April 5). The Trojans also had five athletes post a second-place finish in events during their strong first day.
- JC Stevenson won the men's long jump with a wind-aided personal best of 27-5.50/8.37m (+4.7w), the top jump by an NCAA athlete so far this season. Although wind-aided and not counting for records, Stevenson's jump was farther that the school record of 27-4.25 by Randy Williams. Gavin Champ placed eighth with a jump of 23-11.00/7.29m (+3.9w).
- Racquil Broderick won the men's discus throw with a meet-record mark of 203-1. In all three meets this season in which he has competed, Broderick has a mark of 203-1 or better.
- Yougendy Mauricette won the men's 400m hurdles with a season-best time of 51.44. Tamaal Myers was second with a time of 51.89.
- Johnnie Blockburger won the men's 200m with a wind-aided PR of 20.26 (+2.8w). Also with windy PRs were Max Thomas who placed third with a time of 20.38 (+2.8w) and Jacob Andrews who took eighth and won his heat with a time of 20.91 (+2.7w).
- Leif Nelson placed second in the men's javelin throw with a PR of 239-11 (73.13m) which bettered his fourth-place standing on USC's all-time list. His first four attempts all went for over 230-feet.
- Marjourie Lopez placed second in the women's 5000m race with a PR of 17:31.71. Her time moved her to 10th on USC's all-time list.
- Lauren Reed placed second in the women's long jump with a wind-aided leap of 19-10.75/6.06m (+3.0w). Jada Foreman placed eighth in the event with a collegiate-best jump of 19-2.75/5.86m (+1.4).
- Jassani Carter placed second in the women's 200m dash with a wind-aided time of 22.71 (+4.3w). Christine Mallard placed third in the 200m with a time of 22.95 (+4.3w) and Jan'Taijah Jones was fourth with a time of 23.37 (+4.3w). Trojan alum Celera Barnes won the 200m dash with a time of 22.41 (+4.3w).
- Rae-Anne Serville placed third in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 59.02. Nonah Waldron had a time of 59.90 to place fifth and Simone Ballard a time of 60.83 to place eighth.
- Sara Zabarino had a season-best throw of 170-9 (52.04m) to place fourth in the women's javelin throw. Her mark today moved her from fourth to third on USC's all-time women's javelin throw list. Kamryn Elgersma placed sixth with a throw of 143-11 (43.87m).
