USC Baseball Dominates Fresno State, 10-1

IRVINE, Calif. – The USC baseball team used a six-run sixth inning to break open its matchup with the Fresno State Bulldogs, picking up a 10-1 victory on Tuesday night in Irvine.
The Trojan pitching staff gave up just one run in the second inning and held the line the rest of the way as USC moves to 9-13 on the year. Fresno State falls to 16-8.
The Trojans' six-run inning was sparked by a run-scoring triple from Ethan Hedges. Carson Wells, Abbrie Covarrubias and Austin Overn followed with RBI singles, and the Trojans added two more runs on a wild pitch and throwing error.
Austin Overn added to the lead with a two-run triple in the eighth as USC would score three more runs their last time up. The Trojans had 11 hits in the game.
USC used four pitchers to hold Fresno State to one run on six hits and just two walks. Fisher Johnson got the win after 2.0 scoreless innings. Garren Rizzo got the start and gave up one run on four hits in his 4.0 innings of work. Brodie Purcell held the line with 2.0 scoreless frames before giving way to Johnson, and Josh Blum finished it off by setting the side down in order in the ninth.
