No. 9 USC Women’s Tennis to Host Arizona, Arizona State

Trojans will celebrate Alumni Day on Saturday against ASU.
LOS ANGELES – The No. 9 ranked USC women's tennis team continues Pac-12 play this weekend as it hosts Arizona on Friday, March 15 and Arizona State on Saturday, March 16. Friday's match is set to begin at 1:30, while Arizona State will face off against the Trojans at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
USC is currently 10-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
Most recently, USC fifth-year Eryn Cayetano recorded her 100th singles win as Trojan, while head coach Alison Swain notched her 100th dual match win at the helm.
Saturday is 'Alumni Day' and will feature a handful of promotional activities including a t-shirt giveaway and a tribute for the late Trojan Great Dave Borelli.

RANKINGS:
The Women of Troy enter this week ranked No. 9 in the country (ITA Computerized Rankings March 12). Just a few weeks back, USC checked in at No. 5 in the polls. Currently, four Trojans appear in the national singles rankings, with sophomore Emma Charney leading USC at No. 31 and junior Grace Piper locked in the No. 51 ranking. Trojan redshirt senior Snow Han claimed No. 88 spot and fifth-year Eryn Cayetano sits at No. 113.
The Women of Troy also boasts two ranked duos in No. 11 Cayetano and Charney and No. 36 Parker Fry and Grace Piper.
SO FAR THIS SEASON:
The Women of Troy opened the 2024 season with a pair of home dual matches, defeating LMU (7-0) and UC Irvine (4-0) during a season-opening doubleheader on January 18.
USC then hit the road for ITA Kickoff Weekend in Knoxville, Tenn., defeating No. 21 Miami (4-2) and No. 17 Tennessee (4-2).
Following a fantastic kickoff weekend, Trojan sophomore Emma Charney was named the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Charney went undefeated in singles and doubles in Knoxville and delivered both clinchers.
USC traveled south on Saturday, Feb. 3, for a dual against No. 20 San Diego. The No. 16 ranked Women of Troy won three singles matches against the Toreros but ultimately fell 4-3 to USD, dropping to 4-1 on the season.
At the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, USC went 1-2 in matches, falling to then No. 1 UNC before rebounding to beat No. 21 ranked Washington. The Trojans capped their time at ITA's with a 4-2 loss to No. 6 Pepperdine.
USC bounced back on the road to wrap up February play, downing Michigan State 6-1 before upsetting No. 2 Michigan 4-1. Trojan Grace Piper was named the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week after going 4-0 in singles and doubles (combined) and clinching the Trojans match against the No. 2 Wolverines.
Following a month on the road, USC returned home to face crosstown rival UCLA on Friday, March 1, falling to the Bruins 5-2. Naomi Cheong and Eryn Cayetano were the only two Trojans to record singles wins against UCLA.
The Women of Troy rebounded on Monday, March 4 as the Trojans beat the Gauchos 6-1 at home. After winning the doubles point, USC carried momentum into singles play, winning five straight matches before redshirt senior Snow Han fell on center court to her top-75 ranked UCSB opponent.
USC opened Pac-12 play at home, going 2-0 last weekend as USC beat #25 Washington and Washington State. Against the Huskies, the Women of Troy dropped the doubles point, but would rebound to claim the match 4-1. On Saturday against the Cougars, USC won the doubles point and four matches to take the match 5-2.

No. 42 Arizona is currently 11-7 (0-2), having most recently fallen to Cal (2-5) and Stanford (0-7) in their Pac-12 weekend opener. Arizona has one ranked singles player in No. 123 Reece Carter, and no ranked duos.
SCOUTING ARIZONA STATE
No. 33 ASU is currently 7-6 (0-2), having most recently lost to Stanford (4-1) and Cal (4-3) during their Pac-12 weekend opener. ASU has two ranked singles players - No. 87 Guilia Morlet and No. 103 Emilija Tverijonaite. The Sun Devils also boast one ranked duo in No. 76 Marianna Argyrokastriti and Patricija Spaka.
